The rear starting moving on turn-in, which would normally make me think I was not on the throttle, transfering weight to the rear, after braking. But, when I make a really stupid mistake like that, I tend to remember it. In addition, the car's reaction (or lack of it) when I tried to correct was uncharacteristic.
I think this started in turn 10 - the turn that takes you off the back stretch of the nascar track back into the infield.
There were some faster cars (and drivers) behind me on the back stretch, and a line of cars on the bottom of the track crossing the apex to go to the pits.
Trying to be courteous, I went wide - seriously wide - in turn 10 to give plenty of room for people to go between me and the pitting cars. I then slow pedalled it to let more past, all the way through the front stretch. It wasn't until this turn that I got back up to speed. I think I picked up a bunch of junk on my tires, and it just went sailing - that would explain why it did not react as it usually does too.
Either reason is a mistake - but I like the second mistake more - seems slightly less moronic.

good save, eric! that's a hairy spot to be in, as its hard to slow down coming off the banking.

Good question. That seems to be a blind spot for some reason. I was in a PBOC race there once and a guy put it into the inner wall there and nobody knew he was missing until after the race was over.
Most recent races I've done there have had two corner workers at the hairpin, one watching that specific area since that location can see both the hair pin and that area of 2 to 3. |

I really need to figure out why my car won't idle or start when it's hot... that was way too close.
On another note, it really irritates me that the guy in the race 911 was looking about 4 ft ahead in the red group...

Where was the corner worker? Looked like the last couple of Porsche's were coming in very hot and never knew there was a spin. Glad no one got hit.

Damn, that car snapped back quick, and at the worst possible place. Blind fast corner. You definetly got lucky that other porsche was able to veer away.
